Dr. Allison Landes, M.D.

Dr. Allison Landes is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist, surgeon, former ballerina, wife, mother of two boys, and founder of Landes Eye Associates. She grew up in Tallmadge, Ohio and attended Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. She graduated from Cedarville University in 2003 with a BA in Biology and received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Landes completed her residency training in ophthalmology at Loyola University Medical Center/Edward Hines VA in 2011. She returned to the area in 2011 to begin her career and founded Landes Eye Associates in 2017.

As a refractive cataract surgeon, Dr. Landes offers her patients the most technologically advanced procedures available. She was among the first group of surgeons in the state to be trained and certified in femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery on the LenSx platform. Through laser and premium lens implants including Toric, Extended Focus, and Multifocal lenses, her cataract surgery patients can experience not only restored quality of vision but correction of their vision with less dependency on or even freedom from glasses.

Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) is another area of surgical expertise for Dr. Landes. She performs MIGS for glaucoma patients who are undergoing cataract surgery, and through these procedures, glaucoma patients can achieve better control of their glaucoma and may be able to decrease or even eliminate their need for glaucoma drops.

Dr. Landes has been performing bladeless LASIK since 2011. She was also one of the very first surgeons in the state to be certified on the WaveLight platform for the fastest and most precise bladeless LASIK procedure to date.

In addition to cataract, refractive, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, Dr. Landes is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and management of many ocular conditions and diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, ocular surface disease, and others. She is known for her thorough and compassionate care with an emphasis on patient education, making sure her patients’ questions are answered and their concerns are addressed.

With the increasing burden of dry eye disease and subsequent need for specialized dry eye care, Dr. Landes founded and leads the most comprehensive dry eye practice in the greater Akron area.  Providing patients with the dry eye workup, diagnosis, understanding, and treatment they need is one of the most rewarding parts of her practice.

For those patients interested in facial aesthetic treatments, Dr. Landes is a Master Injector, certified in the administration of Botox, Daxxify, the RHA Collection of fillers, and Kybella. Patients enjoy her fun consultations, honest evaluations, gentle procedures, and natural appearing outcomes. She also utilizes IPL, or intense pulsed light, for the treatment of dry eye and to perform facial photorejuvenation for the treatment of unwanted pigmentation and vascularization due to photoaging.

Dr. Landes is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and belongs to the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is a volunteer with EyeCare America, a public service program through the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology providing free eye care to the medically underserved and those at increased risk for eye disease and also with Faithful Servants, a local organization providing free medical care and diabetic eye exams to the underinsured. Dr. Landes has served as a physician mentor with CVCA’s School of Medical Professions and welcomes their students to her practice for their medical profession field trips.

Dr. Landes is uniquely the only female solo private practice ophthalmic surgeon in the area. In addition,  Landes Eye Associates proudly represents one of the last remaining physician-owned and operated ophthalmic practices around.
